Article I: Name

The organization shall be entitled the “Texas Tennis Coaches Association,” also referred to as “TTCA.”


Article II: Objectives

  1. To further the interest and welfare of interscholastic tennis in the schools of Texas.

  2. To act in an advisory capacity to the University Interscholastic League Legislative Council and Athletic Committee.

  3. To recommend to the University Interscholastic League Council and Athletic Committee changes which benefit interscholastic tennis in the public schools of Texas.

  4. To provide opportunities for the professional improvement of tennis coaches in the state of Texas.

  5. To open avenues of communication and centralization for Texas public and private schools (grades 1-12) and collegiate (all levels) tennis coaches and players. 


Article III: Membership

  1. Full (Voting member) – Any person actively involved in coaching a tennis program in a Texas school district (grades Pre K-12) and employed by the school district or college he or she representsis eligible for Full membership after paying the required dues.

  2. Associate (Voting member) – Any other interested persons shall be eligible for Associate membership upon compliance with the Bylaws of this Association after paying the required dues.  This includes retired coaches who are no longer actively working with a school tennis program.

  3. Student membership (Non-voting member) - Any person who is currently a student.

  4. Hall of Fame (Voting member) - Any member of the TTCA/Wilson Hall of Fame.


Article IV. Association Year

The Association Year shall extend from December 1 through November 30.


Article V.          Voting

Only Full, Associate, and Hall of Fame members of this Association will be eligible to vote, to elect officers, and to determine Association policies.


Article VI.           Officers

The following officers will be elected by the membership: President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.


Article VII. Paid Positions

A.    An Executive Director of the TTCA will be hired by the Board of Directors.  The term of this position will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors.

B.  The CFO of the TTCA will be hired by the Board of Directors.  The term of this position will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors. 

C.  All other paid positions of the TTCA will be hired by the Board of Directors, and the terms of these positions will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors.






Article VIII. Board of Directors

  1. The Board of Directors shall consist of the Executive Director, CFO, President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, past Presidents who remain active in the Association, and elected Classification Vice-Presidents.  (See Bylaws. Article III. Section II. B)

  2. Members of the Board of Directors shall be current active members of the TTCA.

  3. Annual and semi-annual meetings will be held to handle Association business.

  4. The Board of Directors acts on any matter that cannot be handled by the Officers, Executive Director, and/or CFO. (See Bylaws. Article II. Section I. E. 4) 

  5. The Board of Directors has final authority on questions concerning the Constitution of the Association.


Article IX. Election of Officers

  1. All officers must be active full members of the Texas Tennis Coaches Association at the time of their election and shall remain an active full member throughout their term.

  2. Officers and Classification Vice-Presidentswill be elected on even-numbered years at the annual general membership meeting.

  3. The members who are elected must receive a simple majority of the total votes cast by the active Full and Associate members present at the meeting, plus any proxies received by the President.

  4. The term of office will begin immediately after the votes have been counted and the winner determined.

E.   The 1st Vice-President shall become the President and the 2nd Vice-President shall become the 1st     Vice-President.  No election is needed. 

F.   If an individual is no longer employed by a school district, then they are ineligible to serve as an officer.


Article X.         Vacancies

  1. The Executive Director and President shall fill any vacancy of the officers who shall serve until the end of the existing term.

  2. For example: In the event the President cannot finish a term, the 1st Vice-President will fill the office for the unexpired term and the next full term.  The 2nd Vice-President will move up to 1st Vice-President will fill the office for the unexpired term and the next full term.  A 2nd Vice President will be appointed by the Executive Director and President. The appointed 2nd Vice President would fulfill the term, but he/she would need to be elected by the general membership at the next general session to continue the succession to 1st Vice President.


Article XI.          Meetings

  1. There will be one general membership meeting held in conjunction with the Annual TTCA Convention.  

  2. The Board of Directors shall have an Annual meeting (at the convention) and a Semi-Annual meeting. The Semi-Annual meeting may be cancelled if the President and Executive Director determine that it is not necessary.

  3. Special board meetings (in person or conference call) may be called by the President or by simple majority vote of the Board of Directors.





Article XII.          Quorum

  1. Fifty-one percent (51%) of the active voting board membersor their appointees constitute a quorum for the Board of Directors.

  2. The active Full and Associate members present at the annual general membership meeting will always constitute a quorum.


Article XIII.         Finances

  1. Annual membership dues shall be paid to the Treasurer.

  2. All money coming into the Association shall be entrusted to the Treasurer who will keep an accurate account of all money received and disbursed.

  3. The Treasurer and CFO shall make all disbursements on behalf of the Association and as approved by the Executive Director or Board of Directors. (See Bylaws.  Article II. Section I. E. 4) 


Article XIV.   Amending Process for the Constitution

The Constitution of the TTCA may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the active Full and Associate members.  Such a vote may be cast at the annual general membership meeting or by a mail ballot or email ballot. A mail ballot or email ballot must be sent on or before 14 days from the date of the vote.


Article XV.            Rules

  1. The minutes of the annual general membership meeting will serve as the rules of the TTCA when not in conflict with this Constitution.

  2. Changes in the Bylaws of the TTCA may be specifically accepted by a simplemajority vote at the annual general membership meeting, by mail, or electronic ballot. 

  3. The Board of Directors has the responsibility for all decisions not covered by this Constitution or by past and available minutes of general membership meetings.
