With Heavy Heart We Want to Announce the Passing of TTCA Coach, John Furlow

1955-2020

Tribute to Coach Furlow on C-Span

Clements HS tennis coach and assistant athletic director John Furlow passed away unexpectedly today from a heart attack.  John was a long time veteran coach at Clements with close to 40 years of service. Never married, his nickname was “Mr. Clements” and he was recognized several times by the TTCA for his service and ability to produce ranked teams on a consistent basis.  More importantly, he was a man of extreme integrity and both loved and respected by all who knew him.  Despite living with diabetes for years and surviving surgeries related to his chronic disease, he absolutely loved his work and had no intentions of retiring any time soon. We lost a great man today.

John Furlow was not only a great coach with numerous championships during his tenure but he left a legacy of players who loved and competed at the highest level in respect of him.

Please keep the family of Coach Furlow in your thoughts and prayers along with his players and the coaches in the Houston Area and all the coaches that have come to know and compete against John.

There will be a "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service for Coach Furlow on Thursday January 9 at 5:00pm.  It will be held at the Clements High School Auditorium.  Everyone is asked to weare Clements attire or Ranger Blue!
