March 11, 1975 – January 2, 2026

Kevin Scott McElroy was born on March 11, 1975, in Pasadena, TX to Elton Wayne McElroy and Jimmie Elaine McElroy and passed away on January 2, 2026.  He is preceded in death by his grandparents John and Rachael Livingston and Elton and Geraldette McElroy.  He is survived by his wife Beth McElroy and daughters Kayleigh and Addison McElroy; his parents Elton and Jimmie McElroy; brother Sean McElroy and wife Krystal, and his daughters Madilynn Valencia and husband Jordan, and Ryleigh McElroy.  Also, survived by his in-laws Jimmie and Martha Sorrells; brother-in-law Jeff and wife Kittie and their sons Benjamin and his wife Kortnie Sorrells, and Tyler Sorrells; brother-in-law Brad and wife Kathleen Sorrells and their daughters Lacey and Leah Sorrells.  There are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends and co-workers he considered family not to mention the thousands of students’ lives he touched while coaching and teaching in Humble ISD, Deer Park ISD, and Pasadena ISD.

Kevin graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1993 where he played tennis and was the mascot his Senior year.  He then attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he received his Bachelor of Science with a focus on Education, Kinesiology, and History in 1997.  He was a brother of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas, A. F. & A. M. while at SFA.

Kevin was a family man who was loved by all.  He was a kind, loving, and generous man.  He treasured time with family and friends and was involved with his church and his daughters’ many activities.  He was incredibly proud of his two beautiful knuckleheads and his loving wife.

Kevin and Beth met through a mutual friend in March 2003 and were married in March 2005.  They welcomed their first daughter, Kayleigh in March 2008, and their second daughter, Addison in October 2012.

After college, Kevin started his career as a High School Teacher and Coach at his high school alma mater.  He was recruited by his High School Coach to join her at Kingwood High School where he spent 16 years before moving to Deer Park High School.  After 3 years, he came back home to Kingwood where he was the residing Head Tennis Coach. 

Kevin was a long-time member of Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) and was currently on the Board of Directors.  He has earned several TTCA awards including the Integrity award (2011), 6A State Coach of the Year (2017), the Character award (2023), and Regional Coach of the Year (2025). He was also named Teacher of the Year at Kingwood 9^th grade campus.  

Kevin will be sorely missed for his big heart, kind spirit, and quick wit.  Until we see you again Coach Mac!
