Olympic Gold Medalist Monica Puig to Serve as Wilson Keynote Speaker at 2026 TTCA Convention

Horseshoe Bay, Texas — December 11, 2026 — The Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) is proud to announce that Olympic gold medalist and former WTA professional Monica Puig will serve as the keynote speaker (sponsored by Wilson Sporting Goods) for the 2026 TTCA Convention at Horseshoe Bay Resort.

Puig will address Texas tennis coaches on December 11 during the Wilson Coach of the Year / Hall of Fame Banquet, one of the signature events of the annual TTCA Convention.

Puig brings an extraordinary playing career and a wealth of experience to the TTCA audience. Representing Puerto Rico, she made history at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, winning the women’s singles gold medal and becoming the first Puerto Rican athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. Along the way, she defeated several of the world’s top players, including Angelique Kerber in the gold-medal final.

A longtime competitor on the WTA Tour, Puig reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 27 in the world and captured the 2014 Strasbourg title. She retired from professional tennis in 2022 following a career impacted by injuries.

Since stepping away from professional competition, Puig has remained deeply involved in the sport as a broadcaster, tennis educator and mentor. Her experiences at the highest levels of tennis—including competing on the world stage, winning Olympic gold, overcoming injuries and transitioning to life after professional competition—have given her a unique perspective to share with coaches and athletes.

The Wilson Coach of the Year / Hall of Fame Banquet will also recognize outstanding Texas tennis coaches and celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport and to the development of tennis in Texas.

The 2026 TTCA Convention brings together tennis coaches from across Texas for professional development, networking, recognition and opportunities to learn from leaders within the sport. The convention at Horseshoe Bay Resort will provide coaches with an opportunity to connect, share ideas and celebrate the people who make Texas tennis one of the strongest coaching communities in the country.
